Cafe Solle: Full of unexpected surprises
Cafe Solle in Odense, a fairytale city on Denmark’s island of Funen, is unique for its soul, personal touch and a menu full of unexpected surprises complemented by its natural wine selection.
Jonas and Xania started the cafe after feeling that Odense needed a more personal coffee shop — it didn’t hurt that it also filled their coffee addiction. But as time has passed, they’ve decided to to take their successful concept in another direction, bringing their passion for natural wine and beer to the forefront.
You can still enjoy a light roasted coffee that has fruit notes that can’t be found anywhere else in Odense. “We buy green beans from Honduras, and then we have Holy Bean here on Funen Island roast them for us. Holy Bean is a women-owned roastery that believes in lighter, more feminine flavor profiles in their coffee.”

However, these days cafe Solle has much more on its menu than just a coffee. “We source our natural wine locally from around Denmark. For example, Melin Vin and Niche Vine. We taste the wines with them and choose the ones we like. We enjoy drinking not only natural wines with a more classic twist but also funky ones. Our customers trust us and love to try new and exciting wines,” explains Jonas.

One of the new faces that will greet you in cafe Solle is Philip, an engineer by trade who is genuine, loves good food, wine and was part of the planning of this change in direction. “I would say having good, personal service is what makes us stand out.”

Another thing that makes cafe Solle different is its interior. While small in dimensions, the space has been put together with love that will make you instantly feel at home.
“Our budget was quiet small that is why our interior pieces have all been bought used. We wanted people to interact with each other so we found a few long tables where they can sit together. Also, we try to be a “laptop-free cafe” after 2 pm and create an opportunity to maybe say ‘hi’ to the stranger sitting next to you.”
